A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I’m a software test engineer by day and a blockchain entrepreneur on the weekends.

2. Why do you make art?

I love exploring the infinite possibilities of composition through mark-making and the use of value and color. It’s like being on an art-making expedition where I’m creating and exploring at the same time.

3. What inspires you?

Dilapidated structures in the landscape inspire me. While I have one perspective that says that’s messy or dirty, the artist in me is very attracted to it. I find a structure that’s weathered, even with gaping black spaces from missing doors, amidst a meadow to be intriguing and beautiful. And every time you look at it, after more time has passed, it’s even more extreme—more overgrown, more messy. The landscape slowly taking over. There’s also the contrast between the architectural aspect of the structure itself and what’s being done to it by weathering. The static and dynamic nature of the two, where the structure is planted and fixed and the weathering is dynamic and changing.

4. What/who are your influences?

Mainly Motherwell and Willem De Kooning. I would love to do some master studies of Helen Frankenthaler and see how that informs my work.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Tesla.
